Face Cards
Playing cards that are either Jacks, Queens or Kings.

First Base (Blackjack)
The player at the blackjack table who is closest to the shoe of cards and is always the first to act after all players are dealt their hole cards.

Flat Top (Slots)
A slot machine game that has a fixed top jackpot prize as opposed to a progressive jackpot which grows over time.

Flop (Poker)
The first three cards dealt face up during a Texas Hold 'em game.

Flush (Poker - see Video Poker)
A poker hand that contains five non consecutive cards that are all of the same suit.

Fold (Poker)
When a player discards their hand and exits the current game. Players can fold at any of the betting rounds during the game.

Four of a Kind (Poker - see Video Poker)
A poker hand that contains four cards of the same value.

Full House (Poker - see Video Poker)
A poker hand made up of a three of a kind and a pair. Full House ranks between four of a kind and a flush.

Gambling
The act of betting or wagering money on the outcome of any event. Also refers to the act of playing any type of casino game.

Hand (Card Games)
Refers to the cards that you hold in casino games such as blackjack, caribbean stud or poker games.

Hit (Blackjack)
Hitting indicates that you wish to receive an additional card. You can keep hitting until you reach 21 or bust.

Hole Card (Blackjack)
Refers to the dealers card that is dealt face down. You do not get to see the dealer’s card until you have finished making any further plays.

House
Another name for casino, dealer, or banker.

Inside Bet (Roulette)
Any bet on the roulette table directly on single numbers or on bets such as the split bet, corner bet or row bet.

Insurance (Blackjack)
A side bet offered at the blackjack table. Often offered when the dealer has an ace as their up card and may make blackjack with the unseen card.

Jackpot
In slot machines, a big win.

Jacks or Better
A popular video poker variation named due to the fact that the lowest paying hand is a pair of jacks or higher.

Joker (Poker Games)
An additional card that acts as a wild card for all other cards.

Kicker
In Draw Poker, an odd high card that doesn't contribute to a Straight or a Flush.

Let It Ride
A casino table game where your aim is to make the best possible poker hand using your three cards and the dealers two. Pays if you have a pair of tens or better.

Loose
A term used to describe slot machines or particular machine that is currently paying out a lot of wins.

Nuts (Poker - see Video Poker)
A very good hand that is usually unbeatable.
